Legal Regress Legal Redress (Odester Watson) 1.   The Legal Redress Committee studies and plans action on all matters that  threaten the rights and security of African Americans and disenfranchised citizens.  The Legal Redress Committee shall: i)    Investigate all cases reported to it; ii)   Supervise all litigation in which the Branch is interested and iii)   Keep the State Conference, Regional and National Office informed on the  progress of every case it believes has validity. This committee shall not give or  provide any legal advice. 2.   The duties of the Legal Redress Committee include: i)    Investigate all cases reported to it and make recommendations (whether or not  to proceed) and reports to the Branch’s Executive Committee. ii)   Assist in the defense of innocent African Americans or other disenfranchised  individuals who are victims of injustice based on race, color or economic  conditions. iii)   Assist in the defense of cases involving African Americans or other  disenfranchised individuals where fundamental civil or constitutional rights have  been violated. iv)  Take affirmative action to establish and advocate the full implementation of  principles of law to address that have been denied to African Americans or other  disenfranchised groups. v)   Act as the Advisor to the Branch in legal matters.
